Thank you for visiting our new Internet site! Chartered by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America and administered by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, Explorer Post # 409 was established in 1984. The intent of the Explorers program is to educate and to involve youths in law enforcement functions whether or not they enter police work. Through hands-on involvement, the Explorer program establishes an awareness of the complexities of police service, and it provides the law enforcement community an opportunity to further an investment in its own future through positive relationships with fit and capable young adults. Explorers are limited in the latitude and authority under which they operate for they have no law enforcement power, and Explorers perform duties auxiliary to law enforcement functions under the authority and supervision of assigned Hernando County Sheriff's Office personnel. Explorer Post #409 meets every other Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00PM at the Sheriff's Office located at 18900 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville FL 34601. The first hour of the meeting is an overview of Post business, such as upcoming details and events, while the last two hours involve a training session on the topic of the month. For information on when our next meeting will be, please contact the Sheriff's office by either e-mail or phone.
